Reference Sheets

Reference sheet commissions are priced on an element by element system and are very customisable.

I recommend flat colours, not shaded for reference sheets, though shading can be useful for textural elements.

The simplest available would be a single static full body image, with no text and basic formatting (£85), and they can get as complex as you like.

Completed reference sheets are supplied in large and small .png or .jpg versions, and also the original .clip file. I do give permission for other artists to make changes in the case of character design elements needed to be updated, and as long as I have access to the original ref sheet I am able to make updates myself down the line, POA.

WIPs are shared more often with these than in normal illustration commissions, with more space to request changes in order to more accurately depict your characters.

Element Explanations:

Formatting and Text:

The formatting of the ref sheet includes the overall layout, but also the inclusion of text-boxes or annotations (e.g. the numbers on the example sheet), and colour/texture keys. This price may vary if an alternate version of the ref sheet is desired.

The text element refers to the written description of the character, including both the information supplied to the artist by the commissioner, and also notes on important character design identified by the artist (if desired). It is entirely possible for the ref sheet to include text boxes but no text, or niether, if the commissioner does not wish to include written information at this time.

'Static Full Body'

See: the left most image on the example.

A non-dynamic single image of a character simply standing, intended to show off it's markings and anatomy.

It may be side on or front on or 3/4 angle. In the case of a second version of the static image being required, such as a left and right image to show different patterns/scars etc... the second image will be priced individually according to how different it is to the original.

'Dynamic Fullbody'

See: the top right most image on the example

An illustration of the character designed to show off poses, attitude, areas not easily shown in the static etc... They can also include 'disembodied hands' to show parts of the character being interacted with. These are not designed to show of Every element of a character's design, but to elaborate on certain aspects. E.G.: the structure of the chest, gait etc.

Headshots and Details:

Similar to the 'Dynamic' images, these are intended to focus in on specific parts of the character, this may be expressions, the structure of their paws, a piece of jewellery etc...

Pelt/Wing Template:

A clear view of the patterns or shape of a character's wings, markings etc... for easy reference.
